Libertadores: Nacional Ties With the Argentine Champion

Thursday, 11 March 2010 08:32

National and Banfield drew 2-2 on Wednesday for the Group 6 of the Copa Libertadores 2010, at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo. With these results and three matches, Banfield retains the top of Group 6 with seven points, followed by Nacional with five, Ecuador's Deportivo Cuenca with three and Monarcas Morelia, Mexican, with one point.
The duel between champions of the Rio de la Plata offered a great first half, with numerous incidents and goals, but then
the logic of the outcome seemed to impose as the desirability of preserving both teams undefeated and fighting positions in further clashes inside the key. Ultimately, the draw was fair to both.
Nacional will now play in Buenos Aires to Banfield on March 16th, the day that the Morelia plays at home to Deportivo Cuenca. Cerro will play against Emelec as visitor today in the port of Guayaquil.
Emelec and Cerro will play after 22:15 hours Uruguay time for the second time in Group 5, follwed by the match between Deportivo Quito and the International Brazilian two hours later in the Ecuadorian capital.
