A strong Racing, who played with ten men during most part of the game, lost to 2 to 1 against Corinthians from Sao Paulo. “La Escuelita” played an intense match, in which they managed to silence 45,000 Brazilian fans, scoring in the opening seconds of the match. This unexpected scorekeeper made the Corinthians nervous, but they could muster quickly and score the equalizer in the 11th minute. After that, the local team took on the role, but “La Escuelita” from Sayago did not daunt by the Brazilian power. Racing managed to keep the score in a tie for the first 45 minutes, despite an unfavorable arbitration by Bolivian Orozco and thanks mostly to the solvency of their goalkeeper.
In the second half, Dario Flores fouled, that merited a yellow card and was expelled because he had previous sanction. This left Sayago team with ten men in a vast field, complicating the picture to compatriots. The outnumbered made a dent in Racing and 25 minutes in the second half Elias scored for Corinthians again. However, Racing took fitness to withstand the onslaught of Sao Paulo and ended defeated but with a very decent performance in his visit to Sao Paulo. The next activity will be Libertadores Cup, on March 9th when Racing will face Cerro Porteño in Montevideo.
