This Tuesday the list of players who were summoned by Oscar Washington Tabarez to form the team that will play a friendly match against Switzerland on March 3, was revealed.
In the list of players reserved, the name of Ignacio Gonzalez highlights, former Danubio player had been left off the squad after failing to take minutes in Europe, but in recent months he has been selected for his team, the Greek Levadiakos, and therefore returns. Furthermore, the presence of Jorge "Malaka" Martinez who is back in the squad,and Edinson Cavani, who had not been in the games against Costa Rica for the playoffs, stands out.
The rest of the list is complete by Fernando Muslera, Juan Guillermo Castillo, Diego Lugano, Diego Godin, Andres Scotti, Martin Caceres, Jorge Fucile, Mauricio Victorino, Maximiliano Pereira, Diego Perez, Walter Gargano, Alvaro Pereira, Alvaro Fernandez, Nicolas Lodeiro, Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez, Sebastian Abreu and Sebastian Fernandez.
The main absences are those of Cristian "Cebolla" Rodriguez and Sebastian Eguren, they were not reserved by Tabarez.
The friendly match to be played in Switzerland by FIFA date is the only preparation Uruguayans eill have before training begins in May for South Africa 2010. Therefore, the squad will be the basis of the World Cup team. The names of the players from the local environment to be convened will be announced next week.
