Weather Warning Ceased

Monday, 08 February 2010 08:57

The National Directorate of Meteorology issued a statement indicating the cessation the alert due to adverse weather. The report makes clear, however, for the North part of the country the warning passed from "orange" to "yellow", meaning a warning.

In this regard it is noteworthy that rainfall and storms are expected to continue in the North, area with the greatest number of flood evacuees. The most complicated situation is experienced in Durazno, where more than 2,000 are displaced from their homes, when added to those who were hosted by the Emergency Committee and those who took refuge in homes of relatives. At Mercedes, the overflow of the Rio Negro prompted the evacuation of 252 people while another 350 have left their homes voluntarily.
