The Future Industry Minister Roberto Kreimerman announced a reduction in residential rates of the National Electric Power Generation and Transmission (UTE). In principle there would be a reduction in the power contract by 11% and phased reductions for those who consume less than 230 kilowatts. 

Kreimerman stressed that drop will start on February 1st only to consumers under 230 kilowatts. The rebates will be staged from 60% to 25% favoring smaller consumers. The future minister clarified that there are still defined percentages and different price bands but added that there will be an overall reduction of 11% of the contracted power.
