Daniel Martinez spoke for the first time after his failed bid for mayor of Montevideo. Senator strongly questioned the internal procedures of the Uruguayan left. He said it "has Stalinist culture" and that "it has to mature far too much” in terms of sectarian tradition. He acknowledged that the PS also "has and had" the culture. "Someone who thinks differently than me is my enemy, we must destroy them, we must build an operation to make them as frightening or say that are victimizing”. These measures would not allow discussion of ideas but try to insult and belittle the in front, he added. He said "Stalinism instituted the mono-idea" and brought "tactics, strategies and operations to destroy who thinks differently." He said that in the MPP there is also a "misuse of Stalinist power" defined as "an ardent anti-Stalinist" and said he will not "demonize" those who are "throwing sticks". "Let them do what they want," he said.
Martinez said there are "many angry people" with the decision of the Montevideo candidacy because they feel that there is "no clue". "Today what is questioned is the procedure" for selecting candidates, he called for a "constructive and not confrontational" debate.
Martinez said he was "bored and tired about conspiracies" and that "there are other people for that." He said that he will campaign by Olivera and that includes meetings with "founders of the FA" and "people who felt affected in their hearts and think not vote in Olivera. "What I want is not to lose those votes," and said he was "in neighborhoods, fairs and factories" and saw "a lot of angry people who are going to vote against but change of sector and others who do not want to vote and will vote blank or null". He said that for that not to happen, he has a lot of scheduled meetings to try to convince people not to punish Frante Amplio through ballot.
