The future vice president, Danilo Astori, confirmed that the new government will offer places to the opposition on the boards of key agencies such as the Codicen, the Administration of State Health Services (ASSE) and the Social Insurance Bank (BPS). Under these conditions, the Frente Amplio will be minority. "We want the opposition present in all these institutions," said Astori and reiterated the understanding that the opposition is entitled to "co-govern."
In return, the government of José Mujica asks for governance, which was criticized by Luis Alberto Lacalle and Pedro Bordaberry, who said they should not put conditions on the participation of the opposition. Moreover, Astori said that the Frente Amplio will keep the majority on the boards of public companies, as he understand that in such cases it is required a "smooth and according to the government program" management. The elected vice president is in charge of leading the negotiations with the opposition, the contacts will start next week.
