3-D movie technology will debut in Uruguay at the Hoyts theater in Punta Carretas with the film Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Brendan Fraser. The movie is not based on the book, but rather of the characters developed by Verne.

Critics of the film have been positive and have underscored the technology employed. This is the first 3-D film to reach Uruguay in several years, and now features digital technology and lower costs.
