Crédit Uruguay Banco Leaves Country for Strategic Reasons

Crédit Agricole of France announced on Friday that it would close its operations in Uruguay and centralize activities in Europe despite the good results achieved in the country.

Crédit Uruguay Banco authorities say they have several offers to buy the bank. Officials say they will try to ensure that the 480 employees keep their jobs. The bank currently has over USD 1,000 million in assets and 36 branches.
