Hotels Protest High Credit Card Fees

Thursday, 17 September 2009 00:00

The Center for Punta del Este Hotels have suspended the use of Diners, Oca and Visa credit cards for the next 15 days to protest the high fees issuers charge to businesses.

Hotel union director Fernando Massa told El País newspaper that the idea is to alternate suspended cards. Previously, the union suspended the use of MasterCard and American Express cards.

Massa warned that if no progress is made with card issuers, most Punta del Este hotels will cancel payments with all credit cards starting 1 October.
